History - Chapter 11 Study and Vendor Tours

In 2005 the CAUDIT Executive decided that it would be beneficial to members to organise study tours taking in areas of particular current interest. It was agreed to mount a Study Tour, detailed as the "eResearch and Middleware Tour" to a range of locations in UK and USA. These tours have now been repeated annually, taking in Europe, UK, North America and, most recently, Asia.

The "Tour Guide" on all tours up to and including 2007 was Richard Northam, then CAUDIT Senior Project Manager, since 2008 CAUDIT General Manager. For the 2008 tours engaged the services of Mike Rebbechi, formerly Executive Director of IT at Charles Sturt University.

Typically the tours have been organised in modules, to allow participants to select only the parts in which they are most interested.  From 2009, tours were headed by senior CAUDIT staff or Chairs of Community of Practice groups.
