CAUDIT has entered into an agreement to allow staff from member institutions, access to discounted membership with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).  Membership with ACS will bring with it many benefits.  This partnership will give CAUDIT member institutions a special discount of over 20% on your annual membership fee.

The Australian Computer Society (ACS), the nation’s peak body for Information and Communication Technology professionals, has entered a joint commitment with the CAUDIT, to foster and strengthen engagement between ICT professionals and educators.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines a joint-effort to deliver actionable benefits to ICT education and industry under a Partner Engagement Plan. Through a coordinated effort, the two membership bodies will work to promote, develop and monitor competence in the practice of ICT through bi-lateral collaboration and the delivery of cross-member benefits such as recruitment assistance and professional development opportunities.

The Partnership

ACS CEO, Alan Patterson, said “The new partnership between the ACS and CAUDIT opens the way for increased dialogue between educators and professionals in a more streamlined and constructive way – a great benefit for the industry as a whole”.

“Students need to be inspired and excited about where a career in ICT can take them. Not only does there need to be continued reinvestment in and refinement of ICT education at a tertiary level, but this needs to be ongoing and inspire a commitment to lifelong learning among ICT professionals” Mr Patterson said.

The partnership between the ACS and CAUDIT goes some way towards instilling this commitment by promoting a message about the importance of continued development and the acquisition of new ICT skills to allow professionals to keep up with industry demands.

CAUDIT President, Maureen Klinkert said, “The MOU will strengthen the two-way dialogue and resources shared between ICT professionals and educators, while also adding focus on CAUDIT member education and professional development themselves.

“The ICT financial, educational and career opportunities available to Australians are endless and we want to continue to provide a high level of ICT education to students,” Ms Klinkert said.

The combined membership constituency of ACS and CAUDIT represents a significant share of ICT professionals and educators in Australia.
